Alopecia areata is a hair-loss condition which usually affects the scalp. It typically causes one or more patches of hair loss.
Depending upon the extent of involvement, alopecia areata is divided into:
1. Localized alopecia areata
2. Alopecia totalis: involve the whole scalp, eyebrows, beard
3. Alopecia universal is: Total loss of body hair
